So Long Curt!

Curt Gowdy, one of the signature voices of sports for a generation and a longtime broadcaster for the Boston Red Sox, died Monday at 86.

I grew up in the Boston area, got to see Ted Williams play left field at Fenway Park and spent many nights listening to Red Sox games on cheap transistor radios, or not-very-good factory AM radios in whatever hunk of junk I happened to be driving.

Sure, he had his critics, but to me, Curt Gowdy was Red Sox baseball.

Now he'll be calling spring training games in heaven.
