Religion of Pieces

I'm having trouble continuing to believe the Islam is a religion of peace.

It is intellectually lazy to take the position that Islam is a religion of peace, but it has been partially hijacked by extremists.

The fact of the matter are:
  • Islam, in any form, is oppressive to women.
  • Islam is funamentally intolerant of non-believers. The comparison to evangelical Christians is completely off the mark. Evangelical Christians was to convert you, supporers of Islam want to kill you. The day the local door-to-door missionaries begin carrying AK-47s I'll revisit this point of view.
  • Islam supporters will kill other members of their faith who try to criticize the actions of extremists.
I've added a link above my profile to a website that tracks the worldwide atrocities that are committed in the name of Islam. It says more about the very nature of Islam than I could ever conceive.

I continue to wait to see widespread condemnation of Islamic terrorism by the organizations that promote Islam -- but they would rather put their efforts forth on trying to silence people who criticize them. Strange sense of priorities -- silence the critics but ignore those who murder innocent men, women and children.
